UNIBO general description

Founded in 1088, the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna (UNIBO) is known as the oldest University of the western world. Nowadays, UNIBO still remains one of the most important institutions of higher education across Europe and the second largest university in Italy. UNIBO is organized in a multi-campus structure with 5 operating sites and, since 1998, also a permanent headquarters in Buenos Aires: 11 Schools, 32 Departments, 12 Research and Innovation Centers and more than 87.000 enrolled students.

Expertise related to the project

UNIBO has relevant expertise in robotic manipulation, design and control of robotic hands and grippers, manipulation of deformable objects, sliding and shared control, human-robot interaction, computer vision and AI, HW/SW control systems design. UNIBO is the coordinator of the IntelliMan project and will provide significant contribution to the development of adaptive shared control in WP4 and of manipulation devices and methods in WP5. UNIBO will exploit its expertise in prosthetic hand design and control for the prosthetic use case implementation in cooperation with INAIL. Moreover, UNIBO will be the involved with ELVEZ in the implementation of the industrial manufacturing use case. UNIBO will coordinate and monitor the integration of the IntelliMan technologies for all the use cases in WP2, aiming at fostering the sharing of results and knowledge.
